Zebra LP 2824 Plus
& TLP 2824 Plus printers
The LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers’ serial port has an auto-1.
sensing feature and will adapt automatically to support
either the EPL-based straight-through or ZPL-based cross-
over configurations.
The LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers’ parallel port maintains a 2.
Centronics
®
configuration as per the older 28-series and
this will accommodate the external print server devices.
The LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers’ network configuration 3.
provides a combination of Ethernet (RJ-45) and USB (Type
B) interface ports. This is different to the LP/TLP 2824 and
LP/TLP 2824-Z network configurations that provide Ethernet
(RJ-45) and Serial (RJ-11) interface ports.
The LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers benefit from having a 1.
hardware reset button, which can be pressed for a number
of seconds to restore the printer or network settings to
their factory default values. Full details of the operation
of the hardware reset button can be found in the printer’s
associated user manual.
The media and ribbon handling has been maintained 1.
from the LP/TLP 2824 and LP/TLP 2824-Z through to the
LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers. Any current media or ribbon
stock can be used in the new LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers,
including such accessory items as the direct-thermal
printers’ Media Adaptor Kit.
The default media action of the LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers 2.
resembles that of an EPL-based 28-series printer. The
printer will not feed automatically at power-on, only
following a lid closure. If exchanging between two
different styles of media, it is recommended that a manual
calibration be performed. This can be achieved via the
printer’s two-flash Feed button sequence. The printer can
be changed to feed at both power-on or lid closure using
the ZPL ^MF command.
For an LP/TLP 2824 Plus printer equipped with a cutter 3.
option, its default operation will be to double cycle
following every 25th cut. This automatic dual cut is
intended as a cleaning action to maintain the life of the
cutter. This action can be disabled via the appropriate SGD
command “cutter.clean_cutter”, but it is not recommended.
Providing the relevant option is installed, common media 4.
handling can be controlled via the SGD constructs. The
“media.printmode” command can be used to manage
LP/TLP 2824 Plus printers in tear, peel or cutter modes
of operation.
